A long awaited moment – little Charbel’s first words – arrived! Actually, he began talking about two weeks ago, but I haven’t had any time for posting, since we’ve been busy unpacking and settling into our new home. We still have a few things left arrange, but we should have time to download pictures and get them up soon.
In the meantime, this is just a brief post in celebration of little Charbel. His first word was not “mama” or “baba,” but “ta,” the Arabic word for “come,” and, in Charbel’s mind, for “pick me up.” Soon afterwards, he figured out “mama” and “baba.” He’s been saying combinations thereof, such as “mamaba” or “babamaba” for a couple of months, but has now started using them to distinguish between my husband and myself. Needless to say, it warms our hearts to hear his soft little voice call out for us, and feel the gentle – or not so gentle! – touch of his hands as he hugs and pulls on us. He grows more loveable by the day, and we look forward to the coming weeks, months and years, as he continues learning, developing, communicating, and adding so much joy to life!
