Help Us Help the Christians in Iraq!

This is a different type of post than I usually write: a plea for help!

As some of you already know, my husband and I both work at Mar Qardakh School, the first Catholic school to operate in Northern Iraq in decades. The school is in the process of obtaining international accreditation through the IB Programme, and is dedicated to building the future of the region. We believe that long-lasting peace will largely come through education, and are committed to this cause. Enabling the Christians to stay in their homeland with a bright future, and to obtain an international standard of education from here, is a big deal for them, and a mission we are happy and proud to be a part of.

Right now, we are facing a hurdle: we need to have a complete library, stocked with a wide range of resources, in order to obtain our accreditation in October (and to help the students more in general!). We already have the space, but we have very few books.

I don’t usually fund-raise (it just isn’t one of my things!), but this project is really worth it, so I’ve rolled up my sleeves and started a Mar Qardakh School Library Fund crowd-funding campaign in hopes that multiple donations of any size can help us reach this goal.

Please, please, please consider giving if you can, and otherwise, help us spread the word to as many people as possible! It would mean so much to the school, and would be a great encouragement to the community here.

Thank you all in advance, for your financial help, your assistance in spreading the word, and/or your spiritual support! We are very grateful for any type of help you can give, and will be keeping all of you in our prayers (and updated on the library project!).
