Happy Easter, everyone!
Charbel and Paul had an Easter count down going for several days. One of them would start and then they would continue in unison “today’s Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday, then Friday, then Saturday, and then ding ding ding EASTER SUNDAY!” They just got more and more excited each day as Easter got closer! It warmed this mama’s heart.
We went to the Easter Vigil last night. The English Mass vigil was early – 7:00 PM. While I’ve always loved going to the midnight vigils and welcoming the Easter season in the dead of night, I have to say I was glad to be able to go to the vigil and still get a good night’s sleep last night!
As soon as I walked into the boys’ bedroom this morning, Charbel leapt up. “Ding Ding Ding it’s Easter Sunday! Paul, it’s Easter! Mommy, do we get to have the cookies and candy now?” Haha. He and Paul had been watching me make homemade treats ALL day yesterday, and it took all the patience they could muster to wait until Easter for the goodies. I think the only disappointing part of today was realizing that they weren’t going to be allowed to have chocolate chip cookies, all sorts of chocolates AND ice cream cake before breakfast!
We had a simple, fun filled Easter. Morning play at home, a few new outdoor toys, a picnic at the park, egg hunt, ice cream cake, a little left over pizza, and then bed for two happy boys!
And yes, these pictures ARE of Northern Iraq – there’s a lot more greenery here than many people expect!
We have some other things to look forward to this Easter week as well – my parents are taking the boys for 24 hours so my husband and I can have a day together, some of which we’ll spend getting the boys their summer wardrobe – too fun to call an errand!
I hope all of you had a wonderful, blessed day as well! Remember that the fun is just beginning – the Easter season lasts 50 days – even longer than Lent! Celebrate hard!
