Crispy – chewy – chocolatey – peanut buttery goodness = cookie heaven!
We’d been on peanut butter withdrawal for a while… All the stores here in Erbil ran out of peanut butter several months ago and haven’t restocked yet… But we can get around that – we brought back two big containers of peanut butter from our vacation in the U.S.!
Definitely time for a peanut butter treat! Peanut butter blossoms have been one of my favorite cookies since I was a kid, and over the years, I decided that my favorite recipe was the one from Better Homes and Gardens… It has the perfect peanut butter – butter – flour combination, and it’s pretty quick and easy to throw together – a great recipe in all respects!
I used crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy. A little more texture + stronger peanut flavor = SUCCESS!
We didn’t have Hershey’s kisses, so I used dark chocolate squares we already had. I don’t think the squares make the cookies look as nice as the round kisses, but I did prefer the dark chocolate flavor combined with the peanut butter – more flavor, less sugary aftertaste…
If that isn’t enough to convince you that the recipe is worth trying, just look at these two blissful faces!
